Originally known for his work as a comedy actor, Phillips subsequently made the transition to character roles. Phillips made his first film appearances as a child in the 1930s. He is the only actor still alive who performed at Pinewood Studios during the week it opened in 1936. He also understudied for Binkie Beaumont and HM Tennent in the West End. In 1938, 14-year-old Leslie Phillips appeared with Graeme Muir in the West End play Dear Octopus where Muir was the juvenile lead. During the Second World War shows were frequently interrupted by air-raid sirens and Phillips recalls in his autobiography that "audiences would evaporate and head for cellars or Underground stations". Due to his acquired upper class accent, Phillips was selected for officer training at Catterick and duly commissioned as a Second L! ieutenant in the Royal Artillery in 1943. The reigning Miss Chugiak-Eagle River has raised more than $4000 for children's cancer research for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, and last weekend, delivered on a promise to people who pledged by allowing her brown tresses to be buzzed off. She's proud of raising money, but the underlying message is for children who lose their hair because of cancer treatments. "You're proving it's OK to be bald regardless of whether you chose to be or not," Ebben said. Ebben, 23, stands 5-feet-4 inches tall, and her official talent is playing the piano. She has been entering pageants affiliated with Miss Alaska since 2007. She used scholarship money to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks for four years. She was motivated to get involved with St. Baldrick's by another beauty queen, Miss Virginia 2008 Tara Wheeler. Near the e! nd of her reign, Wheeler decided to raise $50000 for St. Baldrick's and pledged to become a "shavee" if she reached her goal. "She inspired me to get involved with them," Ebben said. Me and my fiance came home one night and she walked into bathroom and seen a flash of light. I went back there and instantly felt an extreme burst of cold air and energy, I know that this was a strong spirit. Well I pulled out my camera and recorder and started to try and communicate with this spirit. You see M'Lisa, my fiance, lost her mother 7 years ago and has had a hard time dealing with it. Well I have heard 2 live voices in my apartment thinking this was M'Lisa when she was sound asleep. Then this happened, I was able to get a direct response to M'Lisa and this will send chills down your body, M'Lisa instantly knew it was her mother. I have done Paranormal Investiagations but this is a great thing to finally be able to help someone. Especially my fiance who needed it the most, I don't know why but spirits are attracted to me and I can get EVP 8/10 times and see and feel them all the time. So thank you GOD for this gift, for it's getting stronger and I feel that this is! my calling, to speak to the other side and I wouldn't change that EVER for I LOVE it!!!
